Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Drive Downloader is a desktop application published by Spacesdock (spacesdock.com). It connects to Google Drive on behalf of the user so that the user can download Google Drive files and folders to a folder on their own computer, and uses Spacesdock's own licensing service to activate the user's purchased copy of the application.

This policy describes the data Drive Downloader accesses, the data Drive Downloader stores locally on the user's device, the data Drive Downloader transmits to Spacesdock's licensing service, and the choices the user has to revoke access or delete local data.

2. Google user data Drive Downloader accesses

When the user signs in with Google, Drive Downloader requests the following OAuth scope:

• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly — read access to the Google Drive files and folders that the user has asked Drive Downloader to download.

This scope is requested only for the purpose of allowing the user to download Google Drive files and folders through Drive Downloader. The scope is used solely for the user-initiated download flow; no other Google API is called with this access.

3. Passwords

Drive Downloader does not receive, request, transmit, or store the user's Google password. Google sign-in happens entirely through Google's OAuth flow in the user's system browser. The only credentials Drive Downloader holds for the user's Google account are the OAuth access token and refresh token returned by Google at the end of that sign-in flow.

4. OAuth tokens and local storage

The Google OAuth access token and refresh token issued by Google are stored locally on the user's device using platform-secure credential storage:

• On Windows: the application's secure-storage implementation, which uses the operating system's per-user credential store (DPAPI-backed credential storage where available).
• On macOS: the application's secure-storage implementation, which uses the operating system's per-user keychain where available.

The OAuth tokens never leave the user's device as plaintext to Spacesdock. Spacesdock's servers do not receive or store Google OAuth access tokens or refresh tokens.

The Google OAuth client_id and OAuth client_secret used to authenticate the application to Google are embedded in the Drive Downloader binary at build time. These are application credentials issued by Google to Spacesdock for the desktop OAuth client; they are not user credentials, not user passwords, and not user data. They are not a confidential user secret.

5. Downloaded file data

When the user initiates a download, Drive Downloader reads the relevant bytes from the user's Google Drive using the Google Drive API with the user's OAuth access token, and writes those bytes directly to a folder the user has selected on their own computer.

Drive Downloader's download architecture does not intentionally route Google Drive file contents through Spacesdock's servers. Spacesdock servers do not receive, store, or proxy the contents of the user's Drive files.

Downloaded files remain under the user's control on their own computer. Drive Downloader does not make backup copies of downloaded files outside the user's selected folder.

6. Spacesdock licensing data

Drive Downloader communicates with Spacesdock's licensing service (spacesdock.com) for the following purposes only:

• Activating the user's Spacesdock license on this Windows or macOS device.
• Validating that the device is still entitled to run the current version of Drive Downloader.
• Deactivating this device at the user's request (for example, when the user moves the license to another device).
• Where applicable, fetching update metadata so Drive Downloader can offer a newer version.

The licensing service receives the user's Spacesdock license key, a per-device installation identifier generated locally by Drive Downloader, the platform (Windows or macOS), and the current Drive Downloader version. The Spacesdock license is independent from the user's Google account; Google's OAuth credentials are never sent to the Spacesdock licensing service.

7. Data sharing and sale

Spacesdock does not sell Google user data, and Spacesdock does not share Google user data with third parties. Google user data does not leave the user's device except for the direct download transfer from Google to the user's computer that the user initiated.

8. Data retention

The user's Google OAuth credentials remain on the user's device until the user explicitly disconnects Google from Drive Downloader, revokes Drive Downloader's access from the user's Google Account permissions page, or uninstalls Drive Downloader. None of these events delete the user's files on Google Drive.

Spacesdock license and device-entitlement records are retained by Spacesdock as necessary to provide the purchased entitlement, manage the limited device-slot model (currently 1 Windows + 1 macOS entitlement per license), prevent fraud, and respond to support requests. License-key values are not retained in plaintext beyond the limits required to provide the purchased service.

Downloaded Google Drive files remain on the user's computer under the user's control. Spacesdock does not retain copies of files the user has downloaded.

9. Revocation and user controls

The user can at any time:

• Disconnect Google from Drive Downloader through the application's settings. This clears the locally stored Google OAuth credentials.
• Revoke Drive Downloader's access to the user's Google account through the user's Google Account permissions page. This prevents Drive Downloader from reading any Drive data even if it is launched again.
• Deactivate the current Windows or macOS device in Drive Downloader's settings so that the license slot can be used on another device.
• Uninstall Drive Downloader, which removes the locally stored OAuth credentials and activation credential from the device.

10. Children

Drive Downloader is intended for adult users managing their own Google Drive. Spacesdock does not knowingly collect personal data from children through Drive Downloader.

11. Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of Drive Downloader after an updated effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
